A choice to seek therapy is a choice to give your inner life the gift of attention. The word therapy itself comes from the Greek therapeuein, which means to pay attention or to listen to. Psyche is a Greek word meaning soul, so psychotherapy in its most authentic form is the act of paying attention to the soul. When a person first begins to offer loving attention to their inner life, it can sometimes feel worse before things get better. For this reason it is important that part of our work involve strengthening your self-care. This means becoming conscious of how you integrate healthy movement, good nutrition, positive self-talk, meaningful spirituality and sensual awareness into your everyday life.
